You may have come across the idea of intersectionality when talking about diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.

Intersectionality is a framework for understanding how intrinsic aspects of identity, such as gender, race, and age, shape the way a person experiences the world. Moreover, intersectionality acknowledges that discrimination like the individual can be intersectional. Racism, sexism, transphobia, and other forms of discrimination can intersect to create a complex model of oppression.

The term intersectionality was coined by Kimberly Williams Crenshaw, a professor of law at UCLA and Columbia University. Initially, intersectionality had the mission of critically examining how the law operates regarding race and gender.

Understanding intersectionality helps us listen, introspect, empathize, elevate, and include the voices of those who have been marginalized. Lastly, having a more holistic understanding of what informs a person’s identity can assist in building a workplace culture that is more inclusive and positive for everyone.

Marine pollution is a massive problem. Our rivers, oceans, and beaches worldwide are defiled, negatively impacting at least 267 species and fueling climate change. Save the seas this holiday season without even leaving your home. Every dollar donated is worth 1 pound of trash removed.

Team Seas, an initiative started by popular YouTubers Mr. Beast and Mark Rober aims to remove 30 million pounds of trash by January 1, 2022. By partnering with two non-profit organizations, Ocean Conservancy and The Ocean Cleanup, they intend to remove garbage from the ocean, rivers, and beaches. This is how they plan to do it.

With the help from Ocean Conservancy’s Global Ghost Gear Initiative, they plan to remove lost, abandoned, and discarded fishing gear called ghost gear from the ocean. Team Seas will work with Ocean Conservancy to identify the world’s most vulnerable beaches and send crews to clean them up.

Team Seas will also work with the ocean cleanup to tackle trash from the rivers with their interceptor technologies. The interceptor is a solar-powered robot that can collect trash autonomously. The trash collected gets weighed and then disposed of or recycled with guidance from local authorities.

Hey guys, welcome back to my channel. I wanted to share my trip with you and tell you about some of the cool things I saw when I was in Norway.

So last year, I went to Norway with some friends and had a really good time. One thing I noticed was how different people behaved in the rain. Where I live, when it’s raining, everybody will stay at home or just hang out in shopping malls. But in Bergen Norway, it rains 300 days of the year. So people just get on with it. It was very surprising to see all these children playing in the playground, even out with pouring of rain.

I love hiking in Norway. We went to see Pulpit Rock and I was expecting something really dramatic. But what I saw was a big cloud. It was such an unforgettable experience.

One of the things I ate a lot on my trip was hot dogs, hot dogs, and more hot dogs. One thing I learned about Norway was that people really enjoy being on their own. Many people dream about finding their own place and living far, far away from anyone else. That’s really different where I live because everyone lives very, very, very close together.

I guess what I discovered is that we’re all humans, we’re creatures of habit and different traditions. Travel really opened my eyes to seeing the world in another way.

Video Transcript: 3 Reasons to Attend an HBCU

Congress officially defines an HBCU as a school established before 1964, whose principal mission was and is the education of Black Americans.

These establishments became prevalent after the Civil War and were dedicated to the newly free African-American population. Before the establishment of HBCUs, access to higher education for Black students was virtually non-existent. In total, there are 106 HBCUs that enroll 11% of Black students in the US, while only representing 3% of colleges in the country.

Here are three reasons to consider attending an HBCU:

1. On average, HBCU tuition rates are almost 30% less than comparable institutions. That makes it the best buy with higher returns at a lower cost.
2. HBCUs provide the best value in education, which helps to eliminate or reduce student debt for low to middle-income families. This effort could dramatically narrow the racial wealth gap.
3. In a poll conducted by Gallup Purdue, it was noted that Black graduates of HBCUs are more likely to have felt supported while in college than those who graduated from predominately white institutions. HBCU campuses can serve as a safe and nurturing environment for some students.

These institutions have ensured that every student has had the chance to succeed. By way of affordable pricing and nurturing academic environment, HBCUs are producing some of the leaders of the future.
